Wendigo

About this creature

The creature we discuss here carries with it several special rules. In particular is a taboo about speaking its name. The origin of this creature is with the First Peoples of North America, with the Algonquian people. By way of a simplified explanation: a person of extreme greed, or perhaps who practiced literal cannibalism (as an example of said greed), could be transformed into a beast of the night. Images that are produced about this creature are matters of supposition, as the creature's distinct hunting method would be to try to begin a conversation or otherwise be deliberately noticed by unwary campers out in the forest. The only way to survive would be to ignore its attempts to speak to you, as acknowledgement would lead to being immediately devoured.
